Introduction

Hi, I'm Barry Biggs, I started work as an apprentice in the Thatching Industry in 1982 and have been a Master Thatcher accredited since 1987.

I'm the principal owner of Cotswold and Chiltern Master Thatchers which was formed in 2001.

Areas we Cover

Our main work area is Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire, and London North of the Thames.

We have carried out work further afield when existing clients have moved and require work to their new thatched property.

Services Provided

We carry out new build thatching, re-thatching and re-ridging in Combed Wheat Reed or Water Reed.

Whenever possible we use Norfolk Water Reed obtained direct from the growers in Norfolk but with limited supplies we will also use good quality imported reed.

Free Appraisals and Quotations

We offer free appraisals of thatch condition for existing or future owners either for planning future maintenance or for insurance purposes.

Our quotations are on a fixed price basis and will contain a detailed description of the work being carried out.

Guaranteed and Insured

As members of the National Society of Master Thatchers, all our completed thatching work is issued a five year written guarantee.

We are insured to a value of £5M but this can be increased to £10M by agreement should you require a higher insurance value.

Licensed Waste Carriers

From start to finish Cotswold and Chiltern Master Thatchers deliver a professional service.

As licensed waste carriers we can remove all waste and dispose off site as appropriate which removes any legal liability from the property owner in relation to waste materials.
